- Responsible for ensuring overall plans for the operations, scheduled maintenance, repairs and of the university utilities assets are being properly executed by analyzing the data from audits, understanding the impact of repairs on existing mechanical, electrical, structural and related systems, and recommending the appropriate priorities.
- Develop strategic business plans, strategy implementations and KPI’s, monitor work and evaluate results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of KAUST.
- Executes sustainable operational best practices and manages services in a manner that will ensure that C&C's energy conservation and carbon footprint reduction objectives are met.
- Responsible for the annual budget and therefore must ensure the Utilities Services Department is operating to its budgetary target.
- Ensure the acceptable performance of its contractor partners by observing and monitoring plans and specifications, recommending change orders and reviewing completed work.
- Directs the development and the readiness of appropriate contingency plans that anticipate requirements for exceptional utilities maintenance efforts under emergency conditions.
- Ensures the Utilities organization along with its partners are timely, proactive, logical and effective in responding to requests for both emergency and routine work orders, developing statistics regarding work order performance and satisfaction.
- Ensures compliance with all health & safety policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure the systems related to the Utilities Infrastructure are operational and related assets are fully functional and in compliance with the standards set for Quality Assurance.
- Lead department collaborations and be responsible for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the Department to achieve financial goals & objectives and increase operating performance.
- Oversee all operational and administrative matters of the department, to include management, planning, budgeting, and serve as the primary interface with external & internal service providers.
- Ensure that all major strategic operations initiatives are effectively achieved in line with KAUST Policies and Procedures.
- Manage, mentor, and address the development and training needs of a team consisting of managers, leads and specialists.
- Perform continuous assessments and report periodically to the Director on the overall performance of critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with the Utilities Infrastructure.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of best practices in the utilities services and maintenance industry with emphasis on high and efficient operation performance.
- Ensure that the organization is in compliance with quality assurance and a high degree of customer service.
- Facilitate cross departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communication with staff throughout the department, create and promote positive, multicultural work environment that supports consistency throughout the Department.
- Maintain technical and professional accuracy through collaboration, practice, training, conferences, independent learning, and other means.
- Engage as required with KAUST Leadership, faculty, and Research Park management and tenants across the University.
- Represent the Department in any Internal or External Audits, ensuring timely compliance with any findings or observations, which may include developing and/or optimizing processes and procedures.
