Job/Position Summary:

This position executes and coordinates variety of tasks in library access and resource organization, provides needed support to the library team, works at the information desk including evenings, and assists in many areas of library operations. He/she works collaboratively with library staff and serves as liaison with vendors and service providers.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organize library materials, both print and electronic, using ILS cataloguing module and ERM to make acquired material available to the university community in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the integrity and functionality of the library catalogue and discovery tool is maintained.
  • Assists the access team in providing support for metadata specialist and access librarians.
  • Performs routine task utilizing automated databases systems to include material check in, circulation, searching, ordering, and/or copy cataloguing.
  • Support acquisition and collections team as back-up.
  • Assists in access services, shelving, weeding, book sweeping, stock verification, maintenance of the books and archives as assigned.
  • Works at library infodesk as assigned including evenings.
  • Assists the team with reports, presentations, exhibits, displays, events, workshops and tours.
  • Conducts library tours and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Contributes to a dynamic, collegial library team supportive of the university’s goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the line manager.

  • Excellent communication skills, with strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Knowledge of library services.
  • Good collaborator and able to develop strong working relationships with Library colleagues and across the University.
  • Possess good work habits, a strong work ethic and be able to adhere to University work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
  • Assists Library users with access services of the Library including circulation, document delivery and use of online resources.
  • Reliable and dependable in attendance and completing assignments. 
  • Willing to learn and adapt.
  • Commitment to excellent public service and good customer skills.

 

- Preferred

  • Prior experience working in libraries, education, or public services organizations.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in working with computers and MS Office suite.

Experience working in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment.
