Job Purpose

 

A Project Manager Lead skilled in leading and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects within the PDE&C department. An ambitious and pragmatic professional with a proven track record of successfully delivering critical projects, ensuring that key objectives and planned outcomes are met. This individual should possess strong commercial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of all stages of the project life cycle, from feasibility studies to commissioning. 

 

An effective leader should employ a facilitative management style to build high-performing teams and foster collaborative relationships with external designers, engineers, customers, and all relevant stakeholders. 

 

 

Major Accountabilities

 

  • Direct and oversee the planning, coordination, execution, control, and successful completion of projects, ensuring alignment with company strategies, commitments, and objectives. 
  • Lead project scope definition in collaboration with clients, including the preparation of the business case, budget requests, and project charter. Provide options and solutions to the customer, explaining budgetary and time impacts, clarifying the desired quality to be achieved. 
  • Lead the required teams and stakeholders during the planning stages, conducting thorough constructability reviews to enhance project viability, budget optimization and achieving the best solution for the customer. 
  • Ensuring that scopes of works and bid packages are clear, executable and achievable. 
  • Coordinate with Procurement during the tender phase, ensuring technical queries from contractors are addressed promptly and accurately. 
  • Organize contractor site visits during bidding to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements. 
  • Ensure contractors have access to all contract documents and the latest as-built drawings for accurate project execution. 
  • Define project tasks and allocate resources, ensuring precise requirements are communicated and implemented. 
  • Supervise all project activities to guarantee compliance with specifications and identify discrepancies to maintain optimal progress. 
  • Adapt construction management techniques and control systems, implementing effective solutions to project-specific challenges. 
  • Administer FIDIC and similar contracts, acting as the Engineer/Owner’s representative to manage contractor claims and oversee contract compliance. 
  • Implement robust project management systems to deliver regular, detailed progress reports to clients and stakeholders. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison for construction supervision, ensuring seamless communication among contractors, clients, and stakeholders. 
  • Monitor construction progress against timelines, budgets and quality standards, and take proactive measures to mitigate delays. 
  • Emphasize and enforce safety protocols on-site to achieve a zero-incident record while maintaining high quality standards. 
  • Manage change in a proactive manner, complying with the required governance methods. 
  • Lead by example, promoting and ensuring safe work practices on site. 
  • Oversee project administration software and systems, ensuring streamlined processes for construction supervision. 
  • Respond to stakeholder inquiries promptly, providing guidance and solutions as required.
  • Track and report on deliverables through appropriate project management tools to maintain transparency and control. 
  • Comply with KAUST and PDE&C Procedures, participating in improving and optimizing these. 
  • Ensures that KAUST Occupational, Health and Safety Management System is followed and implemented for all projects.  
  • Regularly monitor project progress, presenting comprehensive reports on milestones, challenges, and resolutions. 
  • Manage project changes and interventions effectively to ensure project outputs align with goals and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Build trust and strong relationship with customers, team and stakeholders, based on transparency, ownership and excellence, being customer centric.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Equivalent preferred.

 

Experience

 

  • 6+ years of experience in construction project management
